Tutorial: mint HEAT and open a CD

This tutorial is the current product path on testnet: mint HEAT, open a HEAT CD, wait for maturity, withdraw or rollover.

What you need

fuegod --testnet synced
Wallet with XFG (testnet)
Understanding: CDs lock HEAT, not XFG

Step 1: Check XFG balance

Step 2: Mint HEAT

Use the wallet HEAT mint / Burn2Mint path that calls mintHeatV10 (TUI: Burn2Mint / HEAT mint). Confirm HEAT balance after the mint confirms. Do not treat legacy cold / “lock XFG” commands as the CD path.

Step 3: Open a HEAT CD

deposit <heat_amount> <term_epochs>

Mainnet terms are 6–72 epochs; testnet allows shorter testing terms. Note deposit ID and maturity height.

Step 4: Verify

List deposits in the wallet and confirm type HEAT / term-locked (not mint-only).

Step 5: Wait for maturity

Testnet epochs are 10 blocks. Watch height until maturity.

Step 6: Withdraw or rollover

Withdraw: receive HEAT + interest
Rollover: new CD for principal + interest

Yield funding (for expectations)

CD yield is funded by protocol fees: atomic swap 1% (69% to CD share) and Hearth 1% (50% to CD share). Low volume → low yield.
