# Earning interest on HEAT CDs

> Practical checklist for HEAT CD yield.

1. **Mint HEAT** from XFG ([mint guide](/features/heat/mint-heat)).
2. **Open a CD** for 6–72 epochs ([create](/features/commitment-deposits/creating-deposits)).
3. Leave it locked through epoch boundaries while swapXFG and Hearth generate fees.
4. At maturity, **withdraw** or **rollover** to compound.

Yield is variable. Estimate with `/estimate_cd_yield` and inspect `/get_fee_pool_info`.
